The Caliphal Emirate of Afghanistan

I think without doubt this is the most considered and best analysis of  the Afghanistan and more broadly, Middle East situation so far conceived.

(31 Aug07) “…Perhaps the answer in our confrontation with militant Islam, and the only option that has remained uncanvassed is, as strange as it may seem, to leave the Islamists to their own devices, give them what they want, even to the extent of openly encouraging them to create their utopian Islamic caliphate — which would have eventuated in Afghanistan had the West not intervened to stymie their ambitions in 2001— and let the ensuing chaos, brutality, and misogyny, previously witnessed under the pious Taliban, become a salutary aversive lesson to those in the ummah who crave, and won't be content till they achieve, their Islamic Xanadu. The 40% of disgruntled young Muslims in Britain  who declare a wish to live under a system of sharia law, might also be encouraged to relocate to a newly established emirate…..The Saudi rulers would be held to ransom by an obligation to pour even more billions than they currently do, into the radical's coffers, just to keep them away, somewhere, anywhere, as far from the Arabian Peninsula as possible…. If they attempted, as is highly likely, to use the country as a base for terrorism against the West, or to foment trouble elsewhere, the serious radicals would at least all be concentrated in one place— the flypaper strategy— and could be dealt with using "no boots on the ground", punitive air strikes…Iran , in particular, would find a neighbouring Sunni salafist emirate, complete with Caliphal pretensions, intolerable, and no doubt the sentiment would be reciprocated, due to the wahhabi's eternal and acerbic contempt for the Shias as nothing but another variety of infidel…” The Caliphal Emirate of Afghanistan , by Warner Mackenzie “…The neighbouring countries, with so much at stake, may well find that Afghanistan 's borders are capable of becoming less porous than they have allowed them to be in the past…. Western nations have always been gullible dupes in responding to the pleas of so called “pro-Western factions” within foreign nations, to “come and sort our problems out”; many thousands of deaths later, and after much contempt and loathing for the “infidel invaders”, the status quo which has prevailed for centuries invariably remains intact….The advantage to the West is that it would be finally able to exercise its ace-card, military superiority, without impediment or restraint….Our attempts to imbue the Muslim world with a desire for, and appreciation of, democracy is proving to be as futile a pursuit as trying to herd cats or nail Jell-O to the ceiling. Fourteen centuries of Islamic history ought to have t au ght us that Muslim forces have only ever capitulated after a “king-hit” rout, a thorough, and unambiguously conclusive, drubbing. Nibbling at the edges and treating Islamic terrorism as a law-enforcement matter is interpreted by the enemy as displaying a profound lack of resolve and commitment, and is therefore doomed to failure….”

Vanishing England

(31 Aug07)" There'll Always Be an England " - popular World War II song

“…Perhaps there will not always be an England . An exodus unprecedented in modern times, coupled with a record influx of foreigners, is threatening to erode the character of the land of William Shakespeare and overpowering monarchs, a land that served as the cradle for much of American thought, law and culture. The figures, making headlines in London newspapers, tell only part of the story. Between June 2005 and June 2006 nearly 200,000 British citizens chose to leave the country for a new life elsewhere. During the same period, at least 574,000 immigrants came to Britain …Britons give many reasons for leaving, but their stories share one commonality: life in Britain has become unbearable for them. They fear lawlessness and the threat of more terrorism from a growing Muslim population and the loss of a sense of Britishness, exacerbated by the growing refusal of public schools to teach the history and culture of the nation to the next generation…” Vanishing England by Cal Thomas “….What it means to be British has been watered down in a plague of political correctness that has swept the country faster than hoof-and-mouth disease. Officials say they do not wish to "offend" others…If you break British law for long enough, you acquire rights not penalties." … The problem for Britain and the United States isn't just the change in demographics. It is the reluctance of both countries to inculcate the beliefs, history and, yes, religious ideals, which made our nations so successful that others wanted to come and be a part of them. The difference between many of the current immigrants and those of the past is that the previous ones wanted to become fully American or fully British. The current ones, in too many cases, would destroy what makes our countries unique. And the "leaders" of Britain and America refuse to stop it….The greater tragedy is that the people of Britain have little say in any of this, so they are taking the road of last resort…They are leaving…”

Gore's Hot Air: Climate numbers used by environmentalists not accurate

(24 Aug07) “…One of the most frequent - and most convincing - arguments made by the global warming scaremongers has been the claim that humans must be responsible because nine of the 10 hottest years on record have occurred during the last decade….If you've seen Al Gore's propaganda movie, An Inconvenient Truth, you'll already know that the great self-serving global warming guru himself gravely repeats that statistic. And he adds that 1998 was the hottest year ever, period….Now, it seems, the worm has turned. Thanks to the work - and the healthy scepticism - of former mining executive Stephen McIntyre, author of a blog called ClimateAudit.org, we now know this oft-repeated claim, like so much of Gore's work, is false. Not true, period…A few days later, NASA quietly revised its list of the all-time hottest years and - guess what? - not only was 1998 not the hottest year ever, 1934 was, but instead of nine of the 10 hottest years occurring in the last decade, only three have….” Gore's Hot Air: Climate numbers used by environmentalists not accurate , The Sudbury Star “…What's more, four of the hottest years were in the 1930s, long before the claim that man-made carbon dioxide is overwhelmingly responsible for pretty well everything that is currently bad in the world…."the 15 hottest years since 1880 are spread over seven decades. Eight occurred before atmospheric carbon dioxide began its recent rise…the environmental fear mongers are doing their best to downplay their mistake. Even NASA officials dismiss the changes as "trivial," since they result in a reduction of just 0.15 degrees Celsius in the mean U.S. "temperature anomalies" for the years 2000 to 2006…Look at it this way. When the numbers were reported as 0.15 degrees Celsius higher than they actually were, this was enough of a difference for Gore and his fellow travellers to warn us all that we were headed down the road to environmental hell. If it created a disaster one way, how can it be just "trivial" the other way?... “

Uniting to exclude Saudi Arabian Airlines

(23 Aug07)“….Saudi Arabian Airlines (known as Saudia) declares on its English-language website that the kingdom bans "Bibles, crucifixes, statues, carvings, items with religious symbols such as the Star of David." Until the Saudi government changes this detestable policy, its airline should be disallowed from flying into Western airports…. Responding to the Saudi ban on churches and Bibles and Stars of David, some would ban mosques, Korans, and crescent moons in the West, but that is clearly untenable and unenforceable, given the freedoms of speech and worship….. Western governments should demand that unless the Saudi government at least permits "that stuff" in, Saudia faces exclusion from the 18 airports it presently services in Europe , North America , and Japan . If those routes were shut down, Riyadh will face a tough choice…” Uniting to exclude Saudi Arabian Airlines , Daniel Pipes, New York Sun “…Such joint action also sends a long-overdue signal to the despots of Riyadh – that Westerners have thrown off their servile obeisance to their writ. Who will be first to act? Which national government or municipality will arise from the customary dhimmi posture and ban Saudia (slogan: "We aim to please you") from its runways, thereby compelling the kingdom to permit infidel religious items, monotheistic and polytheistic alike, into its territory? Where are you Athens, Frankfurt, Geneva, Houston, London, Madrid, Málaga, Manchester, Milan, Munich, New York, Nice, Osaka, Paris, Prague, Rome, Vienna, and Washington, D.C.? If no government acts, what about a delegation of Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and others boarding a Saudia flight with much publicity, openly displaying their religious artifacts, daring the airline to confiscate these? Or which public service law firm in those eleven countries will bring local human rights suits against Saudia as an arm of the Saudi government?

Warming debate: Scene 1, take 2

(23 Aug07) “…If there's anything climate-change crusaders are adamant about, it is that the science of the matter is settled. That greenhouse gases emitted through human activity…But as with other claims Gore has made over the years ("I took the initiative in creating the Internet"), this one doesn't mesh with reality.Scientists and other "serious people" who question the global warming disaster narrative are not hard to find. Last year 60 of them sent a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada , urging him to undertake "a proper assessment of recent developments in climate science" and disputing the contention that "a climate catastrophe is looming and humanity is the cause." The letter cautioned that "observational evidence does not support today's computer climate models"…In 2003, environmental scientists Dennis Bray and Hans von Storch surveyed 530 of their peers in 27 countries on topics related to global warming. One question asked: "To what extent do you agree or disagree that climate change is mostly the result of anthropogenic causes?...." Warming debate: Scene 1, take 2 by Jeff Jacoby, Boston Globe “….On a scale of 1 (strongly agree) to 7 (strongly disagree), the average score was 3.62, reflecting no clear consensus….take the discovery this month that 1934, not 1998, was the hottest year in the continental United States since record-keeping began. NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies quietly changed its ranking after a Canadian statistician discovered an error in the official calculations. Under the new data, five of the 10 hottest US years on record occurred before 1940…The latest issue of Science magazine notes that many researchers are only beginning to factor the planet's natural climate variations into their calculations. "Until now," reports Science, "climate forecasters who worry about what greenhouse gases could be doing to climate have ignored what's happening naturally. . . . In this issue, researchers take their first stab at forecasting climate a decade ahead with current conditions in mind."….Their first stab, please note, not their last. The science of climate change is still young and unsettled. Years of trial and error are still to come. Al Gore notwithstanding, the debate is hardly over….”

More Gleaned from the Holy Land Foundation Exhibits

(5Aug07) To be read in conjunction with the previous posting “Finally the Smoking Gun” of August 5th

'Beware of the “Muslim Brotherhood” is the cautionary message emerging from the court case now in progress against the Holy Land Foundation. Do not miss FSM Contributing Editor Doug Farah's report on this deadly can of worms, which includes sabotage and subterfuge of the U.S.

The government exhibits in the Holy Land Foundation case in Dallas , Texas , bear close reading. These public documents, collected by the NEFA Foundation give a pretty clear picture of the Muslim Brotherhood structure, motives and aims in the United States and more broadly….The internal documents on display show the group's primary function was to support Hamas, which is stated clearly….” More Gleaned from the Holy Land Foundation Exhibits by Douglas Farah  “….In Exhibit 003-0078 is an impassioned plea against any type of dialogue or normalization of relations with the “Zionist entity,” not deeming to say the state of Israel….it is clear we have a secret organization, with its own internal bylaws, security and military structure that views the United States as a vital field for penetration. At the same time a premium is placed on escaping the notice of the authorities through front groups. Not a surprise, but nice to see it in their own words and writing.

Finally, The Smoking Gun

(5Aug07) NOTE: The word “Ikhwan” is Arabic for Brotherhood and in this instance refers to The Muslim Brotherhood, operating in all Western countries including Australia

“…One of the most fascinating exhibits presented by the prosecution in the Holy Land Foundation case (provided by researchers for the NEFA Foundation) is a memorandum on the Muslim Brotherhood's multifaceted plan to convert the United States to an Islamic nation. It is the smoking gun of the Ikhwan's long-standing efforts to destroy the Western world as we know it. The most interesting exhibit is a Muslim Brotherhood memorandum by Mohamed Akram, dated May 22, 1991, where he outlines the Ikhwan vision of the future. He leaves no ambiguity as to the nature of the Ikhwan calling …. Under the heading “Understanding the role of the Muslim Brother in North America ,” he writes:…“The process of settlement is a ‘Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions…” Finally, The Smoking Gun , Douglas Farah “…. Akram then spells out in some detail the role of the Brotherhood in moving the project forward… The document also deals with the criticism among the Brothers that the focus on the United States will drain support for the establishment of the global caliphate…. What is so interesting about the document is the breadth of ambition, the conviction of ultimate success and the care with which the campaign we see today was being thought about 16 years ago. So is the the clarity of the ultimate objective of ending our years as a functioning democracy, built on the rule of secular law, minority rights and freedom of religion, press etc….”

Unmasking Global Warming

(5Aug07) I have often made the case that it seems to me that the Berlin Wall didn't so much come down (and the associated ideology of The Soviet Union collapse) as just mover further west. This article further advances that argument.

“…The most remarkable aspect of the man-made global warming claim is the lack of solid scientific evidence for it. Yet there are those whose apparent goal it is to advance this theory at all costs. Blatant in their disregard of the facts , they try to convince as many as would believe of the real nature of this alleged danger. But since this activism does not rest on scientific evidence or hard facts, it must be driven by motives other than those publicly stated. This much at least should be obvious, but sadly far too many people have failed to make this inference….To see just what those motives may be, we need to go no further than Mikhail Gorbachev whose remarkable political transformation offers a striking insight into the true character of the man-made global warming movement. Formerly leader of the Soviet Union , Mikhail Gorbachev is now one of the world's most vocal global warming activists. This is an unlikely role indeed for a man who during his years in power showed no inclination to address environmental issues….The question is how we are to reconcile Gorbachev's past behavior of environmental destructiveness with his present-day activism….”   Unmasking Global Warming , The Case of Mikhail Gorbachev by Vasko Kohlmayer “…We would do well to ponder this, because the answer sheds light not only on a wily personal reinvention, but also on the motives of those responsible for the creation and spreading of the global warming hysteria…Gorbachev has not changed his basic ideological convictions. In other words, this life-long party apparatchik remains an unrepentant communist to this day…To remain credible, Gorbachev had to look for a more respectable platform from which to continue his efforts. This he quickly found in environmentalism and less than two years after his fall from power he founded Green Cross International , a Geneva-based eco lobby group….while even the most basic forms environmentalism have proven themselves to be a potent vehicle for advancing socialist ideals, the potential of global warming has exceeded almost all expectations in this regard…It is precisely for these reasons that the idea of man-made global warming so appeals to Mikhail Gorbachev who never did anything for the environment when he was in the position to do so…”
