(24 Dec 09) “.....In the 1970s and early '80s, having seized control of the U.N. apparatus (by power of numbers), Third World countries decided to cash in. OPEC was pulling off the greatest wealth transfer from rich to poor in history. Why not them? So in grand U.N. declarations and conferences, they began calling for a "New International Economic Order." The NIEO's essential demand was simple: to transfer fantastic chunks of wealth from the industrialized West to the Third World. On what grounds? In the name of equality -- wealth redistribution via global socialism -- with a dose of post-colonial reparations thrown in. The idea of essentially taxing hard-working citizens of the democracies in order to fill the treasuries of Third World kleptocracies went nowhere, thanks mainly to Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher (and the debt crisis of the early '80s). They put a stake through the enterprise. But such dreams never die. The raid on the Western treasuries is on again, but today with a new rationale to fit current ideological fashion. With socialism dead, the gigantic heist is now proposed as a sacred service of the newest religion: environmentalism....” The New Socialism, Charles Krauthammer, The Patriot Post “.....Politically it's an idea of genius, engaging at once every left-wing erogenous zone: rich man's guilt, post-colonial guilt, environmental guilt. But the idea of shaking down the industrial democracies in the name of the environment thrives not just in the refined internationalist precincts of Copenhagen. It thrives on the national scale too.....Socialism having failed so spectacularly, the left was adrift until it struck upon a brilliant gambit: metamorphosis from red to green. The cultural elites went straight from the memorial service for socialism to the altar of the environment. The objective is the same: highly centralized power given to the best and the brightest, the new class of experts, managers and technocrats. This time, however, the alleged justification is not abolishing oppression and inequality but saving the planet... Big Brother isn't lurking in CIA cloak. He's knocking on your door, smiling under an EPA cap.....”
A Warning and a Ray of Hope from and Intelligence Operative
(24 Dec 09) “Recently, I sat down with a friend who has spent almost three decades working as an intelligence operative in the defence of our nation. During the course of our conversation, I asked him what -- based on his vast experience -- was the number one threat facing our nation? Without even pausing to think about it, he forcefully answered, “ Our mainstream media .” ... More than Al Qaeda, more than home-grown terrorists, more than heavily armed Mexican drug cartels, more than non-existent borders, more than out-of-control and extremely violent domestic gangs, and even more than biological and nuclear terrorism, this dedicated intelligence operative felt that our own liberal media was a greater threat to our safety. Why? “Simple,” he answered. “They enable all of those things and more. They betray our secrets, assign civil rights to enemy combatants, and push for a multi-cultural nation with no borders.....” A Warning and a Ray of Hope from and Intelligence Operative , Douglas MacKinnon “.....The vast majority of those who work in mainstream media have a visceral hatred of traditional values and all those who espouse those values.... The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other far-left outlets think nothing of betraying national secrets on the front pages of their papers in the hope of winning the far-left Pulitzer Prize. "They do this while simultaneously wringing their hands and crying foul when someone hacks into a computer system and exposes as lies, their false and economically crippling religion of global warming....."In the United States of today, no one on the left is ever held accountable for their sins because their protectors in the far-left media ensure that they are blameless. Worse than all of that is the fact that the far-left controls the content and socialist propaganda fed to our children on a daily basis...”
A fascinating read. The connections , the machinations, the wheels within wheels, the deals within deals...That's NSW Labor
(22 Dec 09) “......Forget about six degrees of separation. If you are a Labor mate, it takes just three degrees to be linked to everyone else. If you throw in property speculation, the odds are even shorter.Take, for instance, the sale of two boutique beachside apartments on Mons Avenue, Maroubra. In 2002 the state Treasurer, Eric Roozendaal, was the general-secretary of the NSW Labor Party. His sidekick was Mark Arbib, now a powerful senator and minister in Kevin Rudd's inner sanctum. Each bought an upmarket Maroubra flat, a block from the beach, before construction was finished. Parliament was told each paid a discounted price. The seller was a company controlled by a generous Labor donor and property developer, Brian Boyd, 60, whose shareholding in his flagship company, Payce Consolidated, is estimated to be worth $61 million..... Given he has been a wheeler-dealer extraordinaire over the years, it may have slipped Obeid's mind that shortly before he became an MP, his company parted with $2 million to buy an industrial site on Canterbury Road, Bankstown, from Boyd's company. And while Arbib and Roozendaal were finalising their purchases with Boyd's company, Telmet Ventures, Telmet was successfully lobbying the Labor-controlled Strathfield council to rezone contaminated land at Homebush West. Telmet, which bought part of the site from State Rail, is planning to build up to 1000 apartments there.....Boyd has also been a long-time developer in and around the Olympic Park precinct. The connections don't stop there. Brian Boyd's lawyer is Mark Morgan. Morgan is a director of several Boyd companies and he turned up as a shareholder in a company owned by Eddie Obeid's son, Moses. Streetscape Projects sells multipurpose street poles with street lights, banners and security cameras. Despite coming last in a tender assessment by council officers in 1999, Streetscape was awarded a contract to supply Smartpoles to the City of Sydney, run by then lord mayor Frank Sartor.....” The circle of influence , Kate McClymont, Sydney Morning Herald “....But Morgan himself was not the shareholder in Moses Obeid's company. The identity of the real investor was hidden within a $2 shelf company controlled by Morgan, who has steadfastly refused to disclose on whose behalf he held the shares. Morgan's $2 shelf companies, which he runs on behalf of unnamed people, donated a massive $230,000 to the ALP between 2002 and 2006... In 2007 eyebrows were raised when Unions NSW, run by John Robertson, now a NSW minister, announced that the successful purchaser of the unions' historic workers' cottages, Currawong, at Pittwater was Allen Linz's company. Hired by Unions NSW to broker the sale of Currawong was Joe Tripodi's close friend Tanevski, who just so happened to have been in the internet business with Robertson, Roozendaal and Linz, as well as being a business partner of Linz's at the time of the Currawong sale. When asked about Tanevski's role, Robertson said at the time, ''We wanted somebody who understood how property developers operated.'' Tanevski certainly fitted the bill. He had business links with Linz and fellow developer Duncan Hardie. In 2001 Tanevski bought a house from developer Bob Rose in a Rose project, Breakfast Point, at Canada Bay. Breakfast Point, an American-style $1.5 billion residential village complete with its own country club, won the Urban Task Force's Development Excellence Award for a Master Planned Community in 2004. The 39-year-old Macedonian-born Tanevski has been a director of the Urban Task Force, a lobbying organisation for property developers, since 2002. Noel Hemmings, QC, who was also counsel assisting the commission during last year's Independent Commission Against Corruption hearings into Wollongong City Council, has recently been appointed the Task Force chairman, replacing Bob Rose, who held the position for seven years. Recently elected deputy chairman is Allen Linz, while former directors have included fellow developers Bob Ell and Duncan Hardie. The lobby group's chief executive is Aaron Gadiel, brother-in-law of the Labor MP Tanya Gadiel and a former chief-of-staff to Joe Tripodi and Eddie Obeid....”.
Reforms to enhance police capability
The ‘Eco/Enviro-Gestapo' are on the prowl...
(21 Dec 09) “....Minister for Home Affairs, Brendan O'Connor, today announced significant administrative reforms to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) as part of the government's response to the Federal Audit of Police Capabilities. Conducted by Mr Roger Beale AO, the audit examined the AFP's capacity to meet contemporary and future demands, and government priorities. “In line with our election promise, the Australian Government is improving policing capability to respond to current and future law enforcement challenges,” Mr O'Connor said. The major areas of reform include: a new funding structure providing flexibility to meet existing and emerging priorities including: counter-terrorism; serious and organised crime, including e-security crime; border protection; overseas deployments and peace keeping; criminal law enforcement in business regulation; and support to the enforcement of the anticipated Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme .... “ Reforms to enhance police capability, Media Release, Minister for Home Affairs “....According to Minister O'Connor, while many of the recommendations of the Beale Audit relate to internal operations of the AFP, some recommendations, such as those regarding policing at major airports, will be of particular interest to the states and territories. “The Australian Government is committed to working with the states and territories, airports and aviation bodies, and unions to ensure there is support for the implementation of the Beale recommendations,” he said. The government has also appointed a third Deputy Commissioner to support the increased responsibilities of the senior AFP structure. The Australian Government has also agreed to implement all remaining recommendations made by the Audit, except for the recommendation relating to changes to the administrative arrangements for protection of official and diplomatic premises. “ The measures the government is implementing will ensure the AFP, as the core commonwealth law enforcement agency, is well equipped to combat serious crime, terrorism and other security threats,” the Minister added....”
(19 Dec 09) From the Andrew Bolt Blog . Drive like you mean it, Tim (Tim Costello, yet another climate hypocrite)
The story of Peter Spencer is also the story of the media again not doing its job. Michael Duffy in the Sydney Morning Herald and on his Radio National program Counterpoint in 2005 is the only journalist that's exposed what the NSW state government has been up to. Essentially stealing private property. This fraud on Australian farmers has now been exposed as part of the Rudd governments shell game concerning Australia's grand plan in Copenhagen and its commitment to CO2 abatement...What is also disgraceful is that this has now only become a story because Peter Spencer is into his 4 th week of his hunger strike at Shannons Flat...All of a sudden the media has a human interest story...
”......Spencer is the latest victim of the drought, and also of the cruel green war against farmers that the State Government has been waging for the past decade. In Bob Carr, political power is combined with religious passion (in his case, for green beliefs), a mixture that has long been acknowledged in the West as potentially dangerous. Supported by green activists and the city's lack of interest in the fate of farmers, Carr has been gradually destroying the lives of many people in the country. I've written about Spencer before. His sufferings in the green war are like something from the Book of Job. In the 1980s he bought a lot of grazing land in Shannons Flat, just south of the ACT. More than 80 per cent of it became covered in regrowth and before he could clear it the government brought in native vegetation laws which made clearing illegal. There was no compensation for what was effectively the nationalisation of 80 per cent of Spencer's property. He then invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in setting up ponds for trout fishing, but the introduction of new water laws ended the venture. There was no compensation. Then Spencer set up a fine-wool breeding program, advised by scientists from the University of New England, in an attempt to make more profitable use of the small amount of cleared land on his property. The fires of 2003 in the national parks that ring the area pushed out hundreds of wild dogs, which have devastated farmers in the area. Spencer lost hundreds of sheep. His property is now home to thousands of kangaroos, which destroy pasture. This invasion of his land happened because of gross underspending on park management in NSW and the ACT, specifically on fire prevention activities, the culling of kangaroo and wild dog populations, and fencing. There is no compensation for farmers unlucky enough to live near parks, which have increased in area by 50 per cent under Carr's premiership. Put yourself in Spencer's shoes. Imagine you're in middle age and supporting a family and a mortgage. Then imagine the State Government announces your house is now worth only 20 per cent of what you paid, and all your future earnings will be cut by 80 per cent.....” Farmers pushed beyond limit, Michael Duffy Sydney Morning Herald , June 2005 “..... Finally, when you seek welfare this is denied on the grounds you were a financial basket case. Since first writing about native vegetation laws I've heard from dozens of other farmers. Two are Peter and Darren Hepburn, a father and son in Bombala Shire, near the Victorian border. I've visited them and talked to Bruce Bashford of the Monaro Rural Financial Counselling Service, who tried unsuccessfully to help them fight another case of almost unbelievable injustice. The Hepburns bought a block of 500 hectares in 1994, intending to clear 303 hectares (which had been logged in the past) and sell the timber to repay their bank loan of $300,000. They needed to expand their existing farm to ensure it would be viable in the future. Bashford says Peter Hepburn is a "battling cockie who did everything right". He got written permission from all the relevant government authorities. And he had an understanding with a timber company to buy the logs. The purchase was a responsible business decision. Then in 1995 an early native vegetation law, SEPP 46, came in and suddenly the Hepburns had to apply for permission to clear their land. This was refused. The financial implications for the Hepburns have been horrific. The land was unusable and unsaleable, and by 2000 they had incurred interest costs of $200,000. Peter Hepburn has had to sell another piece of land, 180 hectares he's owned since 1957, to help cope with the disaster. The State Government has been completely unsympathetic. Documents I've seen show public servants trying to get the Hepburns to sign an agreement to set aside a large part of their block for conservation purposes in return for permission to clear and farm another part. It's a disgraceful abuse of the power of the state that remains unresolved today. And it's going on all over NSW. This war on farmers reminds me of a less extreme version of the attacks on peasant farmers by the Soviet commissars after the Russian Revolution. There's the same appeal to ideology to justify an assault on an often disliked class of people. Back then the ideology was social, now it's environmental. It's just as unfair, and it's time we started talking about the morality of government appropriating private property without paying compensation...”
Reposted from December 2006 When push comes to shove landowners stand up for their rights
(31Dec 06) This opinion piece by Michael Duffy, Sydney Morning Herald, zeros in on the theft of private property and water by stealth and the slippery antics of the NSW government. It is a must read for all in the lead up to the state election.
“..The natives are getting restless. On February 11 there will be a rally in Hyde Park to protest against the State Government's long-running assault on democracy and private property. At a meeting at Rouse Hill just before Christmas, about a dozen community groups decided to join forces for what they hope will be a big event. The political ramifications could be interesting. Some of the groups are small, but others have previously organised demonstrations of thousands of people in their own areas. They have a range of issues, but as a coalition they are calling for three things. 1. Fair compensation when government legislation, such as rezoning or native vegetation law, reduces the value of private property. 2. An end to developer donations to political parties. 3. Restoration of the planning powers of local councils, possibly by entrenching councils in the constitution of NSW…” When push comes to shove landowners stand up for their rights , Michael Duffy, Sydney Morning Herald “…Another big rural issue at the moment, as reported by Daniel Lewis in the Herald on December 16, is the Government's theft of water that irrigators have been promised and have paid for ….The legal situation regarding compensation for the state theft of property rights was considered in a 2003 paper by Bryan Pape, a senior lecturer at the University of New England's law school. The State Government is legally obliged to pay just compensation if it takes property, but has no obligation at all if it only goes halfway, as it were, and reduces a property's economic value by taking away some of the usage rights previously attached to it…One farmer who will be at the rally is Peter Spencer, who lost the use of about 90 per cent of his property because of native vegetation law . Backed by a new group called the Constitutional Property Rights Association, he is pursuing legal action against his council, because the rates it charges him are still based on the assumption his land is economically productive….”
U.N. climate chief cashes in on carbon
(12 Dec 09) “.....A story emerging out of Britain suggests "follow the money" may explain the enthusiasm of the United Nations to pursue caps on carbon emissions, despite doubts surfacing in the scientific community about the validity of the underlying global warming hypothesis. A Mumbai-based Indian multinational conglomerate with business ties to Rajendra K. Pachauri , the chairman since 2002 of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, stands to make several hundred million dollars in European Union carbon credits simply by closing a steel production facility in Britain with the loss of 1,700 jobs. The Tata Group headquartered in Mumbai anticipates receiving windfall profits of up to nearly $2 billion from closing the Corus Redcar steelmaking plant in Britain , with about half of the savings expected to result from cashing in on carbon credits granted the steelmaker by the European Union under the EU's emissions trading scheme, or ETS......” U.N. climate chief cashes in on carbon
Tied to conglomerate that stands to make hundreds of millions in emissions scheme “....How does the closing of a steelmaker in Britain tie to the chairman of the U.N.'s global warming science committee? In 1974, the TATA Group provided the financial resources to found the Tata Energy Research Institute , or TERI, a policy organization headquartered in New Dehli, India, of which Pachauri has been chairman since the group was formed. Continued business ties between TERI and TATA are demonstrated by a press announcement on the TERI website dated Feb. 4 in which Jairam Ramesh, the Indian minister of state for commerce and industry as well as minister of state for power, announced a joint venture with TERI and TATA power to extract and use carbon dioxide for the propagation of micro-algae. On Dec. 10, 2007, Pachauri shared with Al Gore the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on global warming. At the Nobel ceremonies, Pachauri in his Nobel lecture openly represented the U.N.'s IPCC....”
Shocking UN Document Divulges Climate Change Brainwashing
(5 Dec 09) “…….With the reverberations of climategate still echoing, it has now emerged that children are being greenwashed in public schools by being forced to sing climate cult ditties and hate their parents as part of a United Nations propaganda program aimed at capturing young minds, as the UN itself officially acknowledges the global warming mantra as a new religion. A shocking new UN strategy document also reveals how elitists are recruiting members of academia from all over the globe in an effort to hide the “end-run” around national sovereignty that their program represents…When did global warming turn into a forced religion?,” asks the New York Post's Andrea Peyser as she tells the story of how her daughter came home from school singing the words ” . . . You can hear the warning — GLOBAL WARMING . . . “.“All the kids had been coerced into singing this catchy ditty, which we called “The Warming Song,” at a concert for parents. Further song lyrics scolded selfish adults (that would be us) for polluting our planet and causing a warming scourge that would, in no short order, kill all the polar bears and threaten the birds and bees,” writes Peyser…..A strategy paper for the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), the world's would-be environmental watchdog, reveals how the global elite in charge of the green takeover resolved that, “Environmentalism should be regarded on the same level with religion “as the only compelling, value-based narrative available to humanity,” according to a Fox News report. This approach follows a similar tack to the new methods adopted by Al Gore, who in his recent presentations has delivered his message as a kind of religious sermon, acknowledging, “Simply laying out the facts won't work…..” Shocking UN Document Divulges Climate Change Brainwashing Prison Planet.com “…..A core element of the program includes, “an extensive propagandizing role for UNEP that reaches beyond its member governments and traditional environmental institutions to “children and youth”. “Civil society, including children and youth, and the private sector will be reached through tailor-made outreach products and campaigns,” states the document. The document discusses recruiting academia to further the power of UNEP, noteworthy in light of the recent climategate scandal where scientists at major universities were caught hiding evidence of global cooling…..This document represents yet another smoking gun proving that the climate cult movement is all about expanding the power of a dictatorial, unelected global government, diluting powers of nation states, seizing control of the global economy, eviscerating the middle class with a raft of new regulations and laws, and shutting down industry with impossible CO2 reduction mandates, while erecting environmentalism, which is really a thin veil for global fascism, as the new universal religion. This has nothing to do with saving the earth and, as the climategate scandal has illustrated, nothing to do with the real science – but everything to do with a relatively small clique of globalists running roughshod over humanity itself in pursuit of their malthusian control freak agenda….”
