Start a Revolution--Eat Dinner With Your Family

(13Sept05) "...What if I told you that there was a magic bullet--something that would improve the quality of your daily life, your children's chances of success in the world, your family's health, our values as a society? Something that is inexpensive, simple to produce and within the reach of pretty much anyone?" Start a Revolution--Eat Dinner With Your Family “… the research indicates that a shared family meal leads to the strengthening of family bonds, the deepening of relationships, and higher levels of satisfaction and effectiveness among family members… In reality, families did not merely decide to stop eating together. The rhythms, complexities, and chaos of today's lifestyles simply produced a reality that made shared family meals almost impossible…”

They are night photos with the lights clearly indicating either the populated areas in the case of the West or the areas with substantial development in the case of the Third world.

Rules for life

These Rules for life may be a bit of whimsy but they are very accurate whimsy none the less.

Commonsense

Since first broadcasting Commonsense, I have had dozens of requests for a copy. It is one of those pieces that has had wide exposure on the Internet via email and endears itself to many people because it is true.

It's My Life

(1/3/02)  This is all about the denigration of excellence that has infested all aspects of society over the last 30 years. You need a UAI of 99.7 to get into Medical School. When you read It's My Life you can't help but wonder why anyone would bother. Although this is from an American perspective it is exactly the same in Australia, if not worse.

The People's Bank

Now there's a concept! There has been a great deal of talk and publicity in recent times about the re-establishment of a “peoples Bank”. Now that the Commonwealth is up there and out there on the stock exchange and more accountable  to shareholders than customers, the feeling is growing that perhaps its time to loon at this concept again….That's what is happening in New Zealand…This link, The People's Bank pertains to the New Zealand experience as outlined in the April 7th Edition of News Weekly. In NZ it has been voted on and is happening.. Why not Australia????    Also check out the current News weekly.

Some greater things to contemplate

Want some perspective on life and where we figure in the scheme of things??? That just perhaps there is more and greater things to contemplate??? Try, Life Magazine . Also click on Space imaging and Space.com for some great satellite photos of planet Earth.

 The Political Compass

The Political Compass is just a bit of fun.. Take the test. When I first tried it the tendency, I found,  was to answer within the narrow reference band “agree” or disagree” and it threw up a response that didn't seem to reflect what I thought. On a second run I paid more attention to the strongly agree/disagree” options. It made a difference.
