Duality and Political Islam

(29 Sept 07) “….Since September 11 we have asked the question: "What is the real Islam?" The answers from Muslims and Westerners are contradictory and make us confused. There is one way to gain clarity and surety about Islam—our best rational approach is the scientific method.Let us start with the fact that the complete doctrine of Islam is found in three texts: Koran, the Sira (Mohammed's biography) and Hadith (stories and anecdotes about Mohammed)—the Islamic Trilogy….. The doctrine breaks down in time into Mohammed in Mecca (the early part) and Mohammed in Medina (the later part). In essence, there are two Korans, one written in Mecca and the second Koran written in Medina . The two Korans are the first grand division of Islamic doctrine…. What is intriguing is that the two Korans include contradictions. "You have your religion and I have mine" 109:1 is a far cry from "I shall cast terror in the hearts of the kafirs. Strike off their heads…" 8:12. The Koran gives a way to solve these contradictions—the later verse is "better" than the earlier verse. But the earlier verse is still true. All the verses from the Koran are true because they are the words of Allah…” Duality and Political Islam , by Bill Warner “…All of the doctrine refers to two classes of people—Muslims and non-Muslims, kafirs …Ethics are the membrane between religion and politics. Two sets of ethics are laid out in the Trilogy. One set is for Muslims and the other set is for the kafirs. Examples: a Muslim should not steal from another Muslim, a Muslim should not kill another Muslim, a Muslim should not cheat a Muslim. The kafir can be treated in one of two ways. They can be treated well or they can be robbed, killed, or cheated if it advances Islam. On more than one occasion Mohammed said to deceive the kafir. Jihad as a political method killed, robbed and enslaved the kafirs. This is a dualistic ethical system…”

A complete list of things caused by global warming

(26 Sept 07) ‘It's all them atom bombs what's doing it.' That is what the old dears used to say in the event of unusual weather when I was growing up in the back streets of Tottenham in north London . There is something deep in the human psyche that requires a cause to be identified for every effect. Presumably this has an evolutionary advantage: man the toolmaker was able to turn abstract concepts, such as consequence and purpose, to his benefit.

Reasons for decline of the Muslim world

(26 Sept 07) “…. The Muslim world seems to be in the grip of all kinds of rumours. The willingness of large numbers of Muslims to believe some outrageous assertions reflects pervasive insecurity coupled with widespread ignorance…The acceptance of rumours and the readiness to embrace the notion of a conspiracy does not apply exclusively to the realm of politics. Villagers in rural Nigeria are refusing to administer the polio vaccine to their infant children out of fear that the vaccine will make their offspring sterile… Mobile phones and the internet, the pervasiveness of which is often cited as a measure of a society's progress and modernity, have become a means of spreading fear in the Muslim world…..” Reasons for decline of the Muslim world , Hussain Haqqani “…Text messages, originating from the Pakistani city of Sialkot, recently warned people of a virus if people answered phone calls from certain numbers. The virus would not hurt the phone, the messages said, but would rather kill the recipient… Conspiracy theories have been popular among Muslims since the twilight years of the Ottoman Empire as a way of explaining the powerlessness of a community that was at one time the world's economic, scientific, political and military leader….”

Gutenberg and the Date Palm

(21 Sept 07) “…During the Taleban rule in Afghanistan it was difficult to ignore the irony that, despite the banning of everything “modern” and “infidel”, the Toyota pick-up truck and the AK-47 seemed to warrant a special dispensation. Television sets, cassette players, radios, and even kites were sought out and enthusiastically destroyed as un-Islamic symbols of evil Western influence, but not however, the Taleban's indispensable satellite phones….Time has demonstrated that Muslims can always be relied on to rant about the evils of degenerate Western culture, whilst being almost entirely dependent on what that culture has produced….Gutenberg's movable type printing process, and its far-reaching benefits, has proved to be one of the truly seminal inventions of human history, providing universal access to information and learning through the medium of the mass-produced book….Ideas and concepts of philosophical or social import were distributed far and wide. Medical, scientific and technological advances became freely available to the few who could read….” Gutenberg and the Date Palm , by Warner Mackenzie “….Middle Eastern history is littered with examples of wanton foot-dragging and cherry-picking when it comes to accepting, adopting or adapting to outside ideas and influences, leading to the situation whereby even the industrial revolution passed them by. The petty squabbling rivalries, and vainglorious cerebral swagger of Arab Muslim culture, seems to preclude the possibility of the much-needed quantum leap from feudal backwardness to modernity that Japanese society achieved…Unfortunately for the Muslim world, due to their arrogant sense of superiority, they have arrived at no such conclusion and now, having missed the express train of progress, they stand flat-footed, humiliated, and enraged on the station platform, blaming their situation on everyone but themselves…”

A letter from the Irish Independent

(20 Sept 07) This is a letter published in the Irish Independent Newspaper on July 17 th 2007.

It places a great deal into perspective, chronicles history and well an truly points the finger as to many of the problems confronting us today.

“…Sean Macken, with regard to your letter (July 10), where you attempted to point  to the history of finding out the cause of Muslim rage- To do this we should therefore start at the beginning of the aforementioned rage to give the reader a better understanding of why there is such rage and justify this rage. In 624 AD, it was Muslim anger that raided and pillaged Arab merchants from the safe haven of Medina . It was Muslim anger that conquered Mecca in 630 AD and the rest of the Arabian Peninsula two years later. It was Muslim rage in 636 AD that invaded and occupied Judea/Israel and the Jews, (renamed Palestine by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in 134 AD so to wipe off the nation and name Israel from the world). It was Muslim anger that invaded and occupied Syria , Iraq (yes Iraq !), Egypt and the whole of North Africa , Persia ( Iran ) and part of Central Asia .   It was still this Muslim rage that invaded and occupied Spain , Portugal , Sicily and part of France between the 8 th and 15 th Century. Lest we forget the USA was not yet born, Western Imperialism was not yet invented, and Israel was just thought of in prayer.

Today, Muslim rage continues and targets the West, the East, and the South, Buddhists, Hindus and animists.

Could it not be, Mr Macken they are facing the same old Muslim rage?

The Talibanisation of Britain

(2 Sept 07) It was recently reported in the London Times that almost half of Britain's 1,350 mosques are under the control of the hard-line Deobandi sect whose leading preacher, Riyadh ul Haq, loathes Western values and has called on Muslims to “shed blood” for Allah. He heaps scorn on any Muslims who say they are “proud to be British” and argues that friendship with a Jew or a Christian makes “a mockery of Allah's religion.”

So who and what is the Deobandi sect in control of almost half of Britains Mosques???

The following may be of assistance

“…In the West, the Saudi ideology of Wahabbism is well known for its extremism and intolerance. Less well known is the ideology known as Deobandi. This ideology is equally insidious, equally extremist. For the Deobandi ideology is the ideology of the Taliban…The Taliban's assumption of power in Afghanistan was barbaric: on September 27, 1996, they dragged former president Mohammed Najibullah from his refuge at a UN compound, and then publicly castrated, shot and hanged him and his brother. Beneath the swinging bodies, the Taliban grinned and waved their weapons…..The Taliban banned art, music, cinema, and prohibited children from flying kites or keeping pigeons as pets. Women were not allowed to venture outside without a male relative to chaperone them….” The Talibanisation of Britain , by Adrian Morgan “….Though a popular inspiration for Pakistani extremists, the Deobandi ideology gains its name from a town in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India . It is here at Deoband that the second largest Sunni seminary in the world exists…Women are regarded as intellectually inferior to males. On the subject of educating women, the Deoband believe that formal education for a girl should end at the age of eight. A Deobandi scholar, Abdul Basit Hamidi Qasmi, has argued that "worldly knowledge is not good for women and can be destructive for them". It is not surprising that even after their official "downfall" in 2001, the Afghan Taliban have killed people for educating girls….One of the principle doctrines of the Deobandi ideology is that it is a Muslim's duty to wage war (jihad) upon the enemies of Muslims, wherever they may be. National borders are inconsequential, and a student's loyalty should be to Allah before the country in which he lives…”

Denial, England , Have we learned nothing?

(13 Sept 07) “…When I published my book Londonistan last year, I believed Britain was deeply in denial over the threat of radical Islamism. Today — six years after 9/11; two years after the 7/7 London suicide bombings; one year after the discovery of the al Qaeda transatlantic-airline plot; two months after the car-bomb attacks on a London nightclub and Glasgow airport,  Britain is still failing to acknowledge the true nature and scale of what it is facing and what needs to be done to counter it….Despite a hardening of the public mood against Islamism, the British establishment is still sleepwalking toward cultural surrender. The essence of the problem is that although it understands it is fighting an unprecedented terrorist threat, it still does not understand the religious ideology driving the threat….the British government is choosing to look the other way. It should be making it crystal clear that there is no place for Islamist extremism in Britain . Not only is it refusing to do so, however, but its response to Islamism remains one of appeasement….far from resisting the encroachment of Islamic sharia law, Britain  is allowing the development of an Islamic state within a state. It now has “sharia-compliant” mortgages, with a policy to make London the center of global Islamic banking — even though such banking is controlled by Saudi Wahhabis…” Denial, England , Have we learned nothing? By Melanie Phillips “….Almost half of Britain's 1,350 mosques are under the control of the hard-line Deobandi sect whose leading preacher, Riyadh ul Haq, loathes Western values and has called on Muslims to “shed blood” for Allah. He heaps scorn on any Muslims who say they are “proud to be British” and argues that friendship with a Jew or a Christian makes “a mockery of Allah's religion.”… the British government strategy to combat Muslim extremism is based on the discredited “root causes” theory I mentioned earlier. Its post-colonial mindset leads it to believe that all terrorism must be caused by discrete geopolitical grievances…The principal battleground is the world of ideas, the battle for hearts and minds. The Islamists see this very clearly. They understand that psychological warfare — the fomenting of paranoia, resentment, hysteria, and demoralization — is their most effective weapon. If they can hijack the human mind to the cause of hatred and lies, they have an army; and if they can bamboozle and demoralize their victims, they will win…”

Investigative Project on Terrorism

(2 Sept 07) “..After several years in development, we are delighted to announce that the Investigative Project on Terrorism has officially launched its website:  http://www.investigativeproject.org/ . It is designed as a one-stop shopping service on counter-terrorism and militant Islam for law enforcement, government agencies, Congress, the media and the general public..”

Less Than Half of all Published Scientists Endorse Global Warming Theory

(2 Sept 07) Some consensus!!!

“…In 2004, history professor Naomi Oreskes performed a survey of research papers on climate change. Examining peer-reviewed papers published on the ISI Web of Science database from 1993 to 2003, she found a majority supported the "consensus view," defined as humans were having at least some effect on global climate change…. Medical researcher Dr. Klaus-Martin Schulte recently updated this research. Using the same database and search terms as Oreskes, he examined all papers published from 2004 to February 2007. The results have been submitted to the journal Energy and Environment , of which DailyTech has obtained a pre-publication copy. The figures are surprising…. Of 528 total papers on climate change, only 38 (7%) gave an explicit endorsement of the consensus. If one considers "implicit" endorsement (accepting the consensus without explicit statement), the figure rises to 45%. However, while only 32 papers (6%) reject the consensus outright, the largest category  (48%) are neutral papers, refusing to either accept or reject the hypothesis.  This is no "consensus."… Less Than Half of all Published Scientists Endorse Global Warming Theory , US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works “… of all papers published in this period (2004 to February 2007), only a single one makes any reference to climate change leading to catastrophic results…. Schulte's survey contradicts the United Nation IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report (2007), which gave a figure of "90% likely" man was having an impact on world temperatures. But does the IPCC represent a consensus view of world scientists? Despite media claims of "thousands of scientists" involved in the report, the actual text is written by a much smaller number of "lead authors." The introductory "Summary for Policymakers" -- the only portion usually quoted in the media -- is written not by scientists at all, but by politicians, and approved, word-by-word, by political representatives from member nations. By IPCC policy, the individual report chapters -- the only text actually written by scientists -- are edited to "ensure compliance" with the summary, which is typically published months before the actual report itself….”

The Art of (the Long) War

Another outstanding analysis

(2 Sept 07) “….The technology of war may change, but the nature of war is immutable. Wisdom passed down from the ancient masters can therefore provide powerful insights into the chief ideological, political, and military challenge of the twenty-first century… Composed in China around 500 B.C., The Art of War remains one of the most seminal expositions on conflict, armed and otherwise. Among Sun Tzu's many contributions is his simple yet profound diagnosis that knowledge plays the key role in separating victors from the vanquished….Six years have passed since Islamic jihadists dramatically brought their war against Western civilization -- and indeed all civilized peoples -- to America's shores on the morning of September 11, 2001. How well do we know our enemy and ourselves in the wake of that terrible day?...let us begin by defining the adversaries. On one side is a radical movement that operates under the banner of Islam, drawing inspiration from its scriptures, traditions, and jurisprudence. The ultimate objectives of this campaign are the reestablishment of the caliphate and the imposition of global Islamic rule…” The Art of (the Long) War , David J Rusin, American Thinker “…Opposing them is the West, a society founded on Judeo-Christian values, the creativity of its Renaissance, and the critical thinking of its Enlightenment. The West is comprised of Europe and its many scions, and is led by the United States….Why the enemy fights dictates how he fights, so understanding his motivations provides context for his methods and clues to his tenacity….The West has been hampered by a festering and self-inflicted wound: a reluctance to identify its foe as the totalitarian, Islamic-based ideology that it is. Instead, our elites call forth a politically correct haze to shroud the jihadist elephant in the room….Ignorance about the true nature of the enemy is debilitating enough; worse is what fills the void….It is here that wishful thinking boldly asserts itself by promising simplistic, bloodless solutions to difficult problems…the enemy employs tactics that exploit our well-known respect for human life. Jihadists across the Middle East take cover among civilian populations, rightly deeming it a win-win scenario: if we hesitate, then the extremists can function with impunity; if we engage, then any women and children caught in the crossfire provide fuel for the propaganda mill….”

Past & Current Jihad

(2 Sept 07) “… Philosopher John Gray and historian Eric Hobsbawm recently said on British television that even the word “Islamist” was “unfair” because “it implied a strong link to Islam …” Past & Current Jihad , from fortressaustralia.blogspot.com

Good heavens, what kind of history does this Eric Hobsbawm specialize in to qualify as 'historian'? ". . .the word “Islamist” was “unfair” because “it implied a strong link to Islam.”

Certainly he hasn't studied the history of islam .
