The Skeptics Handbook is an excellent, short, punchy and extremely valuable and to the point resource.
(3Sept 08) “....Rise above the mud-slinging in the Global Warming debate. Here are the strategies and tools you need to cut through the red-herrings, and avoid the traps....” The Skeptics Handbook by Joanne Nova “....Oops. The Global Warming Gravy Train Ran Out of Evidence Here's how the facts have changed since 2003, to the point where there is no evidence left. (That 's None, Nada, Zip, Zero).... Believers are becoming sceptics These notable people all felt global warming should be taken seriously until new evidence changed their minds. These are just a few of the growing number....”
(30Sept 08) “......When the mortgage bubble burst, Americans were "shocked" at how many Wall Street buccaneers had been gambling in a vast pyramid scheme with someone else's money. Paper fortunes were made buying and selling questionable sub-prime mortgages on the silly assumption that such gargantuan inside profiting would always expand — even as the number of homebuyers able to buy overpriced properties was shrinking..... All that remains of this Ponzi scheme is the election-year blame game. Republicans charge that important financial firewalls were dismantled by the Clinton administration while insider liberal senators got shady campaign donations in exchange for aiding Wall Street. Democrats counter that the laissez-faire capitalism espoused by Republicans for two decades encouraged financial piracy while tax policy favored the rich speculator over the middle-class wage earner.... But no one dares to ask what really drove the wheeler-dealer portfolio managers. Who re-elected these shady politicians of both parties? Who fostered the cash-in culture in which both Wall Street profit mongering and Washington lobbying are nourished and thrive? We citizens did.....” Dr Frankenstein's Wall Street , Victor Davis Hanson “.....The profiteering was not just the result of a few thousand scoundrels on Wall Street or in Washington, as greedy and as bonus-hungry as many of them no doubt were. Look at the housing market as a sort of musical chairs in which everyone profited as long he grabbed a seat when the music stopped.....We created the cultural climate for this shared madness. Television shows advised how to "flip" a house after putting in cosmetic improvements. Real-estate seminars and popular videos convinced us that homes were not places to live in and raise a family but rather no different from piles of chips on a Vegas table..... We created the phony populist creed that everyone deserved to own a house. So lawmakers got the message to relax lending standards in service to "fairness.".... In a larger sense, this zeal for quick profits and easy money reflected an oblivious too-good-to-be-true culture in which we drove larger cars but demanded more oil drilling from everyone except ourselves. We expected both expanded government entitlements and lower taxes. Our government borrowed ever more money from foreign creditors, because it was a collective reflection of our own profligate financial habits. Of course, we should reform Wall Street and Washington -- and punish severely the crooks in both places. But Americans should remember that Frankenstein was not the name of the monster but of its creator.....”
( 27Sept 08) It's interesting to look back on this piece 11 years later in the context of the Climate Change debate and the proposed global emissions trading scheme. Maybe now people can join the dots for themselves as far as a global agenda is concerned. Too late.
“....As a Senior Advisor to Kofi Annan, Strong will have a free hand to do what he wants while Annan takes the heat - or the praise. Strong prefers to operate in the background. He, perhaps more than any other single person, is responsible for the development of a global agenda now being implemented throughout the world.... Although various components of the global agenda are associated with an assortment of individuals and institutions, Maurice Strong is, or has been, the driving force behind them. It is essential that Americans come to know this man who has been entrusted with the task of "reforming" the U.N. - this man Maurice F. Strong... According to Elaine Dewar, author of Cloak of Green . Strong is a Socialist....Strong's cousin, Anna Louise Strong, was a Marxist, and a member of the Comintern, who spent two years with Mao and Chou En-lai. Her burial in China in 1970 was organized personally by Chou En-lai. Maurice is well received in China, partly because of his cousin's connections... Strong is also closely aligned with Mikhail Gorbachev and was a participant in Gorbachev's State of the World Forum in San Francisco in 1995. His organization, Earth Council, and Gorbachev's organization, Green Cross International, are currently developing a new "Earth Charter" for presentation to the U.N. General Assembly.... Strong was chosen to direct Earth Summit I, in Stockholm in 1972 , not for his demonstrated interest in the environment, but because the Swedish representative to the U.N. believed that only Strong, with his extensive worldwide network of friends, could get both the developed and developing nations to participate....The 1972 Stockholm Conference on Human Environment (Earth Summit I) had far more international significance than was ever reported....” Maurice Strong: The new guy in your future! Henry Lamb, January 1997 “.....The 1972 Stockholm Conference institutionalized the environment as a legitimate concern of government, and it institutionalized NGOs as the instruments through which government could varnish its agenda with the appearance of public support....In 1983, Strong was appointed to the U.N.'s World Commission on Environment and Development, headed by Gro Harlem Brundtland, Vice President of the World Socialist Party... At a luncheon with Swedish Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson in 1986, Strong proposed another world conference on the environment to be held on the 20th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference.... As Strong organized the Rio Conference, he utilized his vast network to ensure the outcome.... The practice started by Strong at the 1972 conference, of cloaking the agenda in the perception of public grassroots support from NGOs, culminated in Rio in 1992, with the largest collection of NGOs ever assembled in support of Agenda 21. Only those NGOs that were "accredited" by the U.N. Conference were permitted to attend .. Maurice Strong has demonstrated an uncanny ability to manipulate people, institutions, governments, and events to achieve the outcome he desires. Through his published writings and public presentations he has declared his desire to empower the U.N. as the global authority to manage a new era of global governance. He has positioned his NGO triumvirite, the IUCN, WWF, and the WRI, to varnish U.N. activity with the perception of "civil society" respectability....The fox has been given the assignment, and all the tools necessary, to repair the henhouse to his liking....”
( 27Sept 08) “....The Crash of 2008, which is now wiping out trillions of dollars of our people's wealth, is, like the Crash of 1929, likely to mark the end of one era and the onset of another. The new era will see a more sober and much diminished America. The “Omnipower” and “Indispensable Nation” we heard about in all the hubris and braggadocio following our Cold War victory is history. Seizing on the crisis, the left says we are witnessing the failure of market economics, a failure of conservatism. This is nonsense. What we are witnessing is the collapse of Gordon Gecko (”Greed Is Good!”) capitalism. What we are witnessing is what happens to a prodigal nation that ignores history, and forgets and abandons the philosophy and principles that made it great. A true conservative cherishes prudence and believes in fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets and a self-reliant republic. He believes in saving for retirement and a rainy day, in deferred gratification, in not buying on credit what you cannot afford, in living within your means.....Our standard of living is inevitably going to fall. For foreigners will not forever buy our bonds or lend us more money if they rightly fear that they will be paid back, if at all, in cheaper dollars. We are going to have to learn to live again without our means. The party's over....” The Party's Over , Patrick J Buchanan “....this generation decided that was yesterday's bromide and we must march bravely forward into a Global Economy, where we all depend on one another. American companies morphed into “global companies” and moved plants and factories to Mexico, Asia, China and India, and we began buying more cheaply from abroad what we used to make at home: shoes, clothes, bikes, cars, radios, TVs, planes, computers. As the trade deficits began inexorably to rise to 6 percent of GDP, we began vast borrowing from abroad to continue buying from abroad...Who are we kidding? What we are witnessing today is how empires end. The Last Superpower is unable to defend its borders, protect its currency, win its wars or balance its budget. Medicare and Social Security are headed for the cliff with unfunded liabilities in the tens of trillions of dollars....An unelected financial elite is now entrusted with the assignment of getting us out of a disaster into which an unelected financial elite plunged the nation. We are just spectators. What the Greatest Generation handed down to us — the richest, most powerful, most self-sufficient republic in history, with the highest standard of living any nation had ever achieved — the baby boomers, oblivious and self-indulgent to the end, have frittered away....”
(24Sept 08) “.....An example of this leftist domination in Australia's elite academic centres, Ungerer drew attention to the recent “eyebrow raising” appointment of a leading critical terror studies advocate, Dr Anthony Burke, as an Associate Professor to the University of New South Wales at the ADFA.... (Carl)Ungerer emphasised that “the lecturers at ADFA are teaching the next generation of military leaders” in Australia, and Burke's appointment certainly raises questions about what those future leaders will be taught about terrorism, especially as Burke's far Left views are well known. Revealingly, Burke dismissed Ungerer's concerns about the radicalism of “critical terror studies” as “a neo-conservative, highly culture wars-type argument”.... At the centre of Burke's worldview is the “radical pacifism” that Ungerer condemns. Burke denies any ultimate legitimacy to sovereign nation-states, and denies that they have any right to preserve their security, defend themselves from attack, police their borders, or pursue their national interests, when these might impinge upon “the Other”.....” Hijacking Terrorism Studies Mervyn F. Bendle, Quadrant Magazine, Sept 2008 “....Unfortunately, Burke is not the only academic at the ADFA whose orientation to the study of terrorism raises concerns, as another new book makes clear. This is Terror: From Tyrannicide to Terrorism (2008), edited by Michael T. Davis and Brett Bowden, who is a Senior Lecturer at the ADFA.... A close reading reveals the book has the following principal ideological and apologetic objectives. (1) To depict Europe as both the home and principal location of modern terror and terrorism. (2) To make the United Kingdom central to this allegedly Western tradition of extreme political violence. (3) To defend contemporary terrorist groups by claiming that they have been falsely “labelled” as “terrorists” and are merely doing what various European and the English political groups have done throughout their history. (4) To further deflect attention from contemporary non-state terrorist groups by emphasising the state terror carried out by totalitarian regimes—all in Europe . (5) To insist that the central issue is not actual terrorism but an alleged “Islamophobia”.... Notably missing is any dedicated discussion of the history of Islamist terrorism. The only entries in the index under “Muslims” are to “stereotyping of” and “violence towards”, implying that Muslims are the “real victims” and that Muslims play an inconsequential and misrepresented role in contemporary terrorism, an implication several chapters confirm. Particularly disappointing (especially for an Australian text) is the lack of any chapters or even extended discussions that focus on terrorism in Australia or the region, such as the Bali bombings. Indonesia is mentioned only once in the index and Australia is not mentioned at all and receives no particular attention.....”

(23Sept 08) “….Financial-market wise guys, who had been seized with fear, are suddenly drunk with hope. They are rallying explosively because they think they have successfully stampeded Washington into accepting the Wall Street Journal solution to the crisis: dump it all on the taxpayers. That is the meaning of the massive bailout Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson has shopped around Congress. It would relieve the major banks and investment firms of their mountainous rotten assets and make the public swallow their losses…. all sugar for the villains, lasting pain and damage for the victims…If this deal succeeds, I predict it will become a transforming event in American politics--exposing the deep deformities in our democracy and launching a tidal wave of righteous anger and popular rebellion. As I have been saying for several months, this crisis has the potential to bring down one or both political parties, take your choice….The scandal is not that government is acting. The scandal is that government is not acting forcefully enough--using its ultimate emergency powers to take full control of the financial system and impose order on banks, firms and markets. Stop the music, so to speak, instead of allowing individual financiers and traders to take opportunistic moves to save themselves at the expense of the system….” Paulson Bailout Plan a Historic Swindle , by William Greider “……A serious intervention in which Washington takes charge would, first, require a new central authority to supervise the financial institutions and compel them to support the government's actions to stabilize the system. Government can apply killer leverage to the financial players: accept our objectives and follow our instructions or you are left on your own--cut off from government lending spigots and ineligible for any direct assistance. If they decline to cooperate, the money guys are stuck with their own mess. If they resist the government's orders to keep lending to the real economy of producers and consumers, banks and brokers will be effectively isolated, therefore doomed……if the taxpayers are compelled to refinance the villains in this drama, then Americans at large are entitled to equivalent treatment in their crisis. That means the suspension of home foreclosures and personal bankruptcies for debt-soaked families during the duration of this crisis. The debtors will not escape injury and loss--their situation is too dire--but they deserve equal protection from government
(22Sept 08) “....What is the connection between the bankrupt Lehman Brothers and the likelihood that in four years' time our electricity bills will jump another 25 per cent (on top of the rises likely from soaring coal and gas prices)? The answer is that, before its collapse, Lehman was pitching to become the leader in the vast trade created by the new worldwide regulatory system to "fight climate change" by curbing emissions of carbon dioxide.... This market, soon to be worth trillions of pounds, was where Lehman hoped to be "the prime brokerage for emissions permits", as it set out in two hefty reports on "The Business of Climate Change".....Advised by some of the world's leading global warming activists, such as Dr James Hansen and Al Gore (a close friend of the firm's erstwhile managing director Theodore Roosevelt IV), Lehman bought their message wholesale. GIM, the company set up by Gore to sell "carbon offsets" in return for planting trees, was a prized Lehman client.... ” Financial Crisis: Lehman misses out on carbon credit scam , Christopher Booker, Daily Telegraph “....The idea is that, to reduce carbon emissions by an eventual 60 per cent, the number of permits auctioned will reduce year by year, leaving an ever larger shortfall which firms will have to account for either by reducing emissions or by buying additional permits - not least from the developing world under the UN's CDM. Everything about this grandiose scheme betokens the economics of the madhouse.... The new costs it will impose are so colossal that whole industries, including aluminium, steel and Germany's chemical companies, threaten to move their operations outside the EU unless they are given free allocations......What is certain is that it will pile astronomic costs onto everyone in the EU, inevitably impacting most severely on poorer householders that will face bills they cannot afford. The only other certainty - perhaps a consolation - is that those sharing in this bonanza will not include Lehman Brothers, now excluded from cashing in on what threatens to become the maddest scam the world has ever seen....”
(22Sept 08) “....Almost exactly seven years ago Al Qaeda terrorists targeted their hijacked planes into the Twin Towers at the heart of New York's financial centre — and the world was transformed. There were no deaths this week, but the effects of the carnage on the financial markets will be far more profound and destabilising than the 9/11 atrocity....For almost all of us, it will, I predict, be a change for the worse, and for a large minority the consequences will be extremely distressing...The Western world — Britain, Europe and the U.S. — has moved from excess to austerity overnight.....The seismic events which have seen the near-destruction of the investment banking sector and the collapse of insurance giant AIG are on the scale of the Great Crash of 1929. That was such a disaster because it created conditions for the emergence of fascism in continental Europe and then World War II.... Some experts were talking this week as if the financial crisis was nearly over. They could not be more wrong. The downturn has only just begun — and for most citizens uninvolved with finance the consequences have not been felt at all. But they will be felt very soon and very brutally. The British economy is in the same position as the Texan coast earlier this month as Hurricane Ike approached — apparently calm, with life going on as normal, but an almighty storm is raging just over the horizon and heading our way with terrifying speed.....” Apocalypse Now? New world order could have devestating implications for Western nations, Daily Mail “...The International Monetary Fund has already warned Alistair Darling (Chancellor) about his reckless spending. In the months to come, it will demand cuts in government spending, just as it did in the 1970s when the then Labour Chancellor, Denis Healey, had to beg for an IMF loan... the worldwide consequences are just as significant and we can expect the Euro to fail under the strain of economic collapse. The Euro has never been tested by adversity. The single currency's architects made one foolish mistake when they set it up ten years ago: they established monetary union ahead of political union. In long-established democracies such as Britain and the United States, it is natural for one area of the country to help the other in times of difficulty.... The truth is that this week's seismic events will come as a crashing humiliation to the European political class....For the past 25 years we have lived through a glorious party. We have all — governments, companies, banks and, of course, consumers — lived beyond our means and are paying the price. This weekend the hangover begins. It will be prolonged. Life will be much closer to the austerity that followed World War II than the frenzied, debt-fuelled boom of the past two decades. Perhaps our lives will be none the worse for all this. Our values will certainly change — many will say not before time. Material objects should count for much less. Almost overnight we have entered a new world, and we must learn to make the best of it.
(20Sept 08) “….America Alone is the Canadian journalist's bombshell alerting us to his certainty of what life will become for those Western nations soon to be overwhelmed by the growth and dominance of their migrant Muslim populations....It's one of the sharpest books on this subject and also the most terrifying. Steyn isn't the first to warn the West of the dangers that the rapid expansion of Muslim population growth poses; indeed, words such as Eurabia and Londonistan have become part of the West's lexicon. While others, including Bruce Bawer, Melanie Phillips and Bat Ye'or, have written about their vision of the future of Europe, none has come close to scratching complacency with as sharp a rapier as Steyn…..To dramatise his case, he asks: "What's the Muslim population of Rotterdam? Forty per cent. What's the most popular baby boy's name in Belgium? Mohammed." ….The reason for the mass importation of Muslims into traditionally Christian Europe is because of the nanny state mentality of socialised post-war nations. Britain, France, Germany, Scandinavia and other European nations have become so dependent on their governments fixing problems that they've virtually given up on self-reliance….” America Alone (A review) by Alan Gold “….These migrants are arriving in Europe at a post-war moment of social, political and cultural weakness…. Because the European Muslim population is so predominantly young, it has also led to radicalisation and the importation of terrorism: "The environmentalists may claim to think globally but act locally, but these guys (Muslims) live it…. Many will find Steyn's book alarmist, even racist, but he is unbowed by criticism, claiming that "the larger forces at play in the developed world have left Europe too enfeebled to resist its remorseless transformation into Eurabia"….. His solution? Get rid of the bloated nanny state mentalities, which are a national security threat, and develop self-reliance and individual innovation while destroying the ideology of radical Islam, helping reform Islam and expanding Western civilisation to new places. Viewed from the safety of Australia, the next 50 years will be fascinating…..”
(13Sept 08) In light of the recent revelations concerning the state of the NSW budget, there has been a great deal in the media about the credit rating agencies, such as Standard and Poors, Moodys et al and the power and clout they wield and their capacity wreak havoc, chaos and mayhem at the stroke of a pen. Now that general chatter of these agencies has become mainstream I have, below, reposted a series of article (originally posted in November 2004) that lifts the lid on these agencies. Perhaps it's time we started to rate the ratings agencies!!! It's also worth casting an eye over Michael Duffy's column SMH Sept 13, 'From the folks behind the subprime crisis, a sword over NSW's head' to get an understanding as to how these agencies have had a major role to play in the subprime crisis.
REPOSTED Moody's and the International Rating Agencies
(29Nov04) The rating companies give an opinion of the creditworthiness of a company, municipality or nation 'From their Manhattan offices, they can, with the stroke of a pen, effectively add or subtract millions from a company's bottom line, rattle a city budget, shock the stock and bond markets and reroute international investment. Without their ratings, in many cases, factories can't expand, schools can't get built, highways can't be paved. Yet there is no formal structure for overseeing the credit raters, no one designated to take complaints about them, and no regulations about employee qualifications'. The rating companies are free to set their own rules and practices, which sometimes leads to abuse, according to many people inside and outside the industry. At times, credit raters have gone to great lengths to convince a corporation that it needs their ratings - even rating it against its wishes, as in the Hannover case. But is an 'an unsolicited rating a form of coercion to earn fees ' ? Credit Raters' Power Leads to Abuses, Some Borrowers Say appeared in the Washington Post 24th November 2004. In other cases, the credit raters have strong-armed clients by threatening to withdraw their ratings - a move that can raise a borrower's interest payments. In this series of articles in the Washington Post, staff writer Alec Klein exposes the dealings of the allegedly reputable firms and how 'the world's big three credit raters - Moody's Investors Service, Standard & Poor's and Fitch Ratings - have become some of the most important gatekeepers in capitalism without the commensurate oversight or accountability.' Credit Raters Exert International Influence and Smoothing the Way for Debt Markets November 23rd and Borrowers Find System Open to Conflicts, Manipulation November 22th.
(13Sept 08) “….Is the ongoing drought in the Murray-Darling Basin affected by climate change? The simple answer is that there is no evidence that CO2 has had any significant role. Like it or not, that is the science. In fact, the drought was caused by an entirely natural phenomenon: the 2002 El Nino…. event…. Last year finally brought a La Nina event but it was relatively weak…This was the first rain-bearing La Nina since 1999 but proved insufficient to break the drought. In short, the drought was initiated by El Nino, protracted by further El Nino events and perhaps more importantly, the absence of substantial La Nina events. Despite the known causes of the drought, many have claimed that CO2 emissions are to blame… A key claim is that the multiple occurrence of El Nino is a sign of climate change. This is speculative at best. Recent analysis showed the nine-year absence of La Nina was not unusual. In fact long-term records demonstrate alternating periods of 20-40 years where El Nino is dominant, followed by similarly extended periods where La Nina dominates….The observation that El Nino and La Nina events cluster on 20-40 year, multi-decadal timescales is an important one. It demonstrates that Australia should always expect major changes in climate as a function of natural variability…..” Emissions not making rivers run dry , Stewart Franks, The Australian “…. A more recent claim is that higher temperatures are leading to increased evaporation of moisture…. Indeed, Wendy Craik, the chief executive of the Murray Darling Basin Commission has stated that temperatures were warmer, leading to more evaporation and drier catchments. This is disturbing to hear from the head of the MDBC, as it is completely at odds with the known physics of evaporation. While it sounds intuitively correct, it is wrong …..The system is over-allocated and has experienced a growth in groundwater extraction and in the number of farm dams preventing rainfall from becoming run-off. This is due to a failure of planning, management and leadership from the relevant authorities. Under these conditions, when a prolonged drought strikes, the system collapses. This is a man-made problem but not one that is attributable to CO2… the most literally fantastic claim on climate change must go to Kevin Rudd, who has guaranteed that rainfall will decline over coming decades; one can only assume he's based his view on deficient climate models and bad advice….. Given the uncertainty of El Nino and La Nina behaviour, one clearly cannot predict the future. There is no direct evidence of CO2 impacts on the drought, nor is there any rational basis for predicting rainfall in 30 years time.
(13Sept 08) “….You think we live in a democracy where we choose our leaders? Then wake up and check the leaders of our states and territories. Voted for any of them? In fact, six of the eight got their jobs without going to an election. They were picked instead by their party to replace a leader of their own side. Five still haven't got the voters' nod since, which means most Australians have a premier they've never had the chance to vote for….Something sure has changed…..” Democracy up the poll , Andrew Bolt, Herald Sun “….. A decade ago, just three of the eight state and territory leaders were selected, rather than elected……Most then were like Bob Carr and Jeff Kennett, winning office by winning an election from Opposition, getting a mandate for them and their policies….It was said then there was only one poll that counted: the election. But increasingly the polls that count are opinion polls, warning a government is on the slide or a leader on the nose. Both parties now realise if they are in power and voters want change, it's better the government offer it, rather than the Opposition…it also helped that the Oppositions in all that time, all Liberal, weren't much chop. But a new technique for clinging to office is now embedded in our politics. Governments know they must give voters all the change once offered almost exclusively by Oppositions. They must change flagging leaders, so voters won't change parties. Perhaps there are benefits to this. After all, never have parties studied polls so keenly, looking for ways to keep voters happy…..”
UnderCover Mosque: The Return
(5Sept 08) Early in 2007 the Channel 4 UK Dispatches program ran a one hour documentary concerning an undercover operation Dispatches: Undercover Mosque featuring the most disturbing and unsettling evidence of the Islamist enemy within. Apart from anything else the program simply demonstrates once again the obscenity of cultural relativism and how the theory of multiculturalism has the potential in reality to become a suicide note for the West. In recent weeks Channel 4 has produced and broadcast a follow up program UnderCover Mosque: The Return to see if, as promised, the extreme Wahabi influence has been purged from the Finsbury Park Mosque as promised. Sadly as you will see nothing's changed 18 months on. They continue to preach their toxic sludge, and the British government remains as inert and as hapless as ever.
(3Sept 08) “....As the estimated cost of measures proposed by politicians to "combat global warming" soars ever higher – such as the International Energy Council's $45 trillion – "fighting climate change" has become the single most expensive item on the world's political agenda.... All this makes it rather important to know just why our politicians have come to believe that global warming is the most serious challenge confronting mankin, and just how reliable is the evidence for the theory on which their policies are based.... By far the most influential player in putting climate change at the top of the global agenda has been the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Chan ge (IPCC), set up in 1988, The common view of the IPCC is that it consists of 2,500 of the world's leading scientists who, after carefully weighing all the evidence, have arrived at a "consensus"....the reality of this curious body could scarcely be more different..... It is not so much a scientific as a political organisation..... In reality the IPCC's agenda has always been tightly controlled by the small group of officials at its head. As one recent study has shown, of the 53 contributors to the key Chapter 9 of the latest report dealing with the basic science 37 belong to a closely related network of academics who are all active promoters of the official warming thesis.... The idea that the IPCC represents any kind of genuine scientific "consensus" is a complete fiction.....” The ‘consensus' on climate change is a catastrophe in itself , Christopher Booker UKTelegraph “....Again and again there have been examples of how evidence has been manipulated to promote the official line, the most glaring instance being the notorious "hockey stick"....Among the ever-growing mountain of informed criticism of the IPCC's methods, a detailed study by an Australian analyst John McLean (to find it, Google " Prejudiced authors, prejudiced findings ") shows just how incestuously linked are most of the core group of academics whose models underpin everything the IPCC wishes us to believe about global warming.... The significance of the past year is not just that the vaunted "consensus" on the forces driving our climate has been blown apart as never before, but that a new "counter-consensus" has been emerging among thousands of scientists across the world... As it was put by Roger Cohen, a senior US physicist formerly involved with the IPCC process, who long accepted its orthodoxy: "I was appalled at how flimsy the case is. I was also appalled at the behaviour of many of those who helped produce the IPCC reports and by many of those who promote it. "In particular I am referring to the arrogance, the activities aimed at shutting down debate; the outright fabrications; the mindless defence of bogus science; and the politicisation of the IPCC process and the science process itself.". ...It really is time for that "counter-consensus" to be taken seriously.
