The Teals are not independent. That’s one of the great cons of the age. Look at the badging and branding.
Their arrival on the political scene in 2022 has been like a straight out of the box do it yourself, prefabricated IKEA political furniture arriving at your front door complete with instructions and Allen keys
They were good to go.
But in reality, the Teals are simply a repackaged, softer, more gentler, feminised iteration of The Greens. They are the holier than thou, good cop in the old good cop bad cop routine.
Take a look at the reality of their voting record in parliament.
An analysis of their individual voting patterns from the parliamentary library reveals that the Teal “independent” MPs overwhelmingly sided with the Greens during the last term of parliament.

Before the 2022 election no one had ever heard of the Teals. Their arrival on the political scene has been totally organic.
No grand announcements of the formation of a new, loose band of brothers and sisters or coalition of supposed independents.
We can only speculate as to the secret meetings in suburban lounge rooms like some East German resistance group.
Dark web communications? International finance? And of course closely guarded and no leaking.
There’s definitely a book in how they pulled it off. Like a well funded, well organised and well rehearsed political flash mob, practicing and honing the ground game and marketing “off broadway” they and their supporters just dropped out of the sky and hit the ground running in what could best be described, in keeping with their livery, as a “colour revolution”
Make no mistake. The Teals are nothing less the an iron fist in a velvet glove.
